What is Hulu?
Hulu is a streaming service just like Netflix and Amazon. Hulu has its own content which is exclusively available on Hulu network. Hulu is a joint venture with Disney, 21st Century Fox, AT&T and Comcast.
AT&T owns 10% of the share while rest have 30% equally. In start Hulu was a free service and Hulu Plus was a paid subscription.
Hulu vs. Hulu Plus
In the start, Hulu was a free service with ads. But later with the coming of Hulu Plus the picture gets bigger and a huge library of content is available to watch with fewer ads. In the current era there is no concept of free program and Hulu completely disappears from the scene. Now remain Hulu Plus which you have to watch after subscription.
Now you cannot watch anything for free on Hulu, the only free option you have is one month free trial.
How costly is Hulu?
Hulu Plus has two plans and adds on features. The basic plan will cost $5.99 per month which is a lot cheaper than Netflix $12.99 and Amazon $9.91 per month or $119/year. If you want to turn off the ads on Hulu Plus then you will have to pay $11.99 a month.
Apart from these plans, there are special bundles as well where you can watch Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ for $12.99 per month and add free version will cost you $18.99. As the majority of you don’t know ESPN is Disney owned network if you avail this package that means you are going to watch ESPN for free.
If you wanted to try to add Disney Plus to your Hulu account then you just go to your Disney Plus account and open your profile from top right corner. Then go to Account and then the Subscription section. In the Subscriptions area you will have your switch option. Keep in mind you need to have the same email address in order to avail.
Hulu with Live TV
Hulu offers a new service named as Hulu with Live TV. The plan includes all the live TV and Hulu library. It will cost you $39.99 per month with 2 screen options and 50 hours of cloud DVR storing.
The live TV has over 50+ famous channels. Hulu’s live television is the same as other competitors such as Sling TV. The Sling TV is providing the same service in $25 but they don’t have a library of original contents which Hulu is producing. The Hulu with Live TV can be operated on every device like laptops, iPhones, iPad, Android devices, Apple TV, Chromecast, Xbox, LG TV, Samsung TV, Roku, FireTV and even Nintendo Switch.
