Rebranding of Android TV to Google TV

Google TV

Reports are circulating regarding the rebranding of Android TV to Google TV. As the Android TV box is becoming unpredictable in the market and Google is focusing on making Chromecast dongles which are running on Android TV. But in the meantime, it is also making smart TV with other original equipment manufacturers (OEM) with the device running on the Android platform.

The latest update of Android TV will bring important developments in the user interface, lower specs requirements, and with a focus on dedicated TV shows and movies instead of just applications.

The reason for making their own movies and TV shows is because they want to make sure the upcoming device can have a chance to compete in the era of Amazon fire stick and Roku.

There are reports that Google is planning to introduce the new branding with the arrival of new Android TV devices and adding to the nest portfolio is quite promising.

In the meantime, we will start having more news and updates to confirm the status of google moving away from Android TV branding to Google TV. It is related to the similar name change of other groups of services as well such as Android Pay which is now Google Pay, Android Wear to Wear OS, Android Messenger which is now Messages, and also Android Market was rebranding to Google Play Store a long time ago.

The best way of launching Google TV in the market is Google I/O 2020 platform, but due to the coronavirus situation, the conference had to be canceled. Now with all the events being closed or postponed, Google is going to host an online event in June to declare the Android 11 Beta 1 version. But at this moment we are not sure whether Google is going to launch Google TV through that online event or not.

If anybody wants to take advantage of the quarantine situation now is the time and that’s what Google is after. The time for streaming services is right now.
