The subscription of Microsoft services including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook normally cost you $100 per year for up to six people or $70 per year for one person. Although you can get these Microsoft 365 versions for free and here is how.
Microsoft 365 for students and teachers
If you are a student or a faculty member and you have an email address then you can get the Microsoft services for free containing Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Teams, and other basic tools.
To access the free tools just go to Microsoft’s official website and start using the services after the verification process is done. There is also a discount for graduates while subscribing to Office 365 Personal for $12 for a year.
Microsoft 365 for everyone
Microsoft 365 is available for everyone on a one month free trial. Though you have to insert your credit card credentials before using it, once the month is completed and you did not cancel the subscription you will be charged for $100 for one year against Microsoft 365 home.
If you don’t like to purchase the Office 356 tools then there is another method to access the basic apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Skype, and Calendar. Just go to the companies’ official website and login to your account. If you don’t have an account then you can also create a new one. The account can be created free. Select any app you want to use and save your work online on OneDrive.
But there is a limit for these free version applications. You don’t have the full functionality of the app. The app will remain limited and you can have the basic functions. If your work can be done in the basic version then the free version should work well for you.
